A creative contest has been announced in Turkmenistan in honor of Diplomatic Workers' Day
In honor of Turkmenistan's Diplomatic Workers Day, celebrated on February 18th, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in conjunction with the Ashgabat City Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan and the editorial board of the "Dünýä edebiýaty" magazine, is launching a creative competition titled "World Languages - A Bridge of Friendship" among students of higher education institutions.
The competition aims to develop the creative abilities of the younger generation; identify and nurture talented youth in the field of translation; and develop the art of translation in our country, which unites world cultures, connects people, promotes friendship among nations, and contributes to the spiritual and moral development of the individual.
According to the competition rules, young translators must translate into Turkmen a passage of prose or poetry by a world-renowned writer or poet, at least 5-6 pages in length.
When choosing a work, it is necessary to consider its conformity with the modern national, spiritual, and moral values of the Turkmen people.
Participants must also choose a work that has not been previously translated, published in print, or issued as a book.
Interested parties can send their works marked "World Languages - A Bridge of Friendship" and their personal data (information about themselves, a copy of their passport, a 3x4 photo, their exact address, and phone numbers) to the email address of the "Dünýä edebiýaty" magazine: dunyaedebiyaty@sanly.tm by January 10, 2025.
Preliminary results will be announced in February 2025. The 30 best works will be selected as winners of the competition. The winners of the competition will be awarded honorary diplomas and valuable prizes.
