Turkmenistan and Mexico launch political consultation mechanism: Ashgabat extended an invitation


The first political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United Mexican States took place on October 24 via videoconference. The event was attended by heads of departments from the foreign ministries of both countries.
A wide range of topics were discussed, including partnership in key areas such as energy, trade, economy, agriculture, education, culture, and sports. Special attention was given to cooperation within international organizations, particularly the UN.
During the consultations, the sides discussed trade and economic relations and opportunities to strengthen ties between the business communities of the two countries. They also considered issues of cultural exchange, including joint programs and organization of events, as reported by the press service of MFA.
The importance of establishing connections between higher education institutions, such as the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Matias Romero Institute of Diplomatic Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, was emphasized. In addition, emphasis was placed on the need to establish bilateral inter-parliamentary contacts.
It was proposed to hold the next political consultations in 2025 in Ashgabat.
