Diplomats of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan visited blockade survivor Maria Avanesova, who lives in Ashgabat, on Saturday and presented her with a badge of honor “In honor of the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Fascist blockade,” as well as a congratulatory address from the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission reported.
Maria Dmitrievna shared her memories of the difficult days in the besieged city, from which she was evacuated in August 1942. Over a cup of tea, a conversation took place about the exploits of ordinary Leningraders who faced inhuman trials, but were never broken by the enemy.
