Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke via video link with the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravji.
The Head of State wished the cosmonaut success in his research work on the International Space Station and noted that Turkey's manned space mission would mark the beginning of a new era of space research.
Gezeravji, in turn, expressed his joy at the opportunity to represent Turkey in such a significant mission.
Alper Gezeravji went to the ISS on the night of January 19 as part of the crew of the As3 mission on the Dragon spacecraft.
