TRACECA has carried out the first pilot cargo transportation by semi-trailer from Europe to Central Asia
The Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRACECA) has carried out the first pilot cargo transportation by semi-trailer truck tractors from Europe to Central Asia, Trend reports.
The pilot transportation is the final stage of preparing a review on the development of semi-trailer transportation, the press service of the Permanent Secretariat reported.
Cargo transportation on the multimodal route Lithuania – Poland – Slovakia – Hungary – Romania – Bulgaria - Black Sea – Georgia – Azerbaijan -Caspian Sea – Kazakhstan took 16 days. The travel time across the territories of the European Union countries, excluding stops, was 37 hours.
So, the transportation of a semi-trailer by a tractor truck started from Vilnius, and continued through the territories of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and to the port of Varna in Bulgaria. On May 30, a semi-trailer without a tractor was sent to the port of Batumi by the Navigation Maritime Bulgare shipping company.
