Chelyabinsk is preparing to launch high-speed freight trains to Turkmenistan
The Chelyabinsk Region will soon become one of the leaders in the Russian Federation in terms of GRP (gross regional product) due to geographical, industrial and human resources potential, as well as external relations through the countries of Central Asia. This opinion was expressed by the head of the region Alexey Texler on Thursday during the presentation of the investment potential of the region at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, reports TASS.
"The Chelyabinsk region ranks 11th in terms of GRP among the subjects of the Russian Federation, and we do not have oil and gas production and processing - this is very important when comparing the GRP of the regions. We are actively working to enter the top 10, in general, we add to this rating every year, and I am sure that in the near future we will enter the top 10 regions in GRP," Texler said within the framework of the Governors' Living Room project. Dialogues".
He noted that the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan makes this region of the Russian Federation the best entry-exit point in cooperation with the countries of Central Asia for the entire industrial Urals. "Therefore, the region is becoming more and more a center for receiving and consolidating cargo in the eastern direction of the North-South corridor and is a good center for consolidating cargo and working with China through the corridor with Kazakhstan," Texler said, adding that the issue of launching high-speed freight trains through Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan and Iran with cargo consolidation in Chelyabinsk is being resolved.
Companies of the Chelyabinsk region show great interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan and make great efforts to realize complementary opportunities.
Chelyabinsk is also working on opening a trade representative office in Turkmenistan.
In September 2022, as part of the visit of the delegation of the Southern Urals to Ashgabat, the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler held a number of meetings with members of the Government of Turkmenistan. The head of the region was accompanied by the heads of the leading enterprises of the region.
Alexey Texler was also received by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who noted the possibilities of cooperation in the design and construction of metallurgical and machine-building plants.
By the way, the symbol of Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk region is a camel – it is depicted on the coat of arms and flag of the city and the region. This symbol has a long history, which nowadays gets a new continuation in the form of caravans of "iron" camels on steel routes.
