The first group of Turkmen pilgrims flew on a special flight to Saudi Arabia for Hajj


The first group of Turkmen pilgrims left Ashgabat on Thursday for Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj. According to the order of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, special flights of “Turkmen Airlines” were organized for pilgrims.
Sending Turkmen pilgrims to Saudi Arabia will continue until mid-July.
Before leaving, the pilgrims visited the Khezreti Omar mosque in Ashgabat, from where they went to the International Airport of the capital, the evening newscast of the Turkmen State Radio and Television reported.
The believers of Turkmenistan will join the millions of followers of Islam making the Hajj to Mecca.
The Saudi authorities have registered a total of 585,932 pilgrims who arrived in the country from around the world ahead of the Hajj, the official SPA news agency reported on Thursday.
The Hajj is expected to begin on June 26 after the official announcement. This year, for the first time since COVID-19, some 2.6 million Muslims will gather on a pilgrimage to perform an Islamic ritual.
