Emomali Rahmon: we are waiting for the President of Turkmenistan in Tajikistan in the autumn at the CA and IFAS summits


The Tajik side highly appreciates the results of negotiations with the President of Turkmenistan, which open a new page in the bilateral strategic partnership, such a statement to the press was made by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
"Our talks with dear Serdar Gurbangulyyevich were held in a constructive and trusting atmosphere. We noted the importance of maintaining a regular political dialogue at all levels. They also welcomed the intensification of inter- parliamentary ties in recent years. They stressed the importance of further active development of trade and economic ties," the Tajik leader said, speaking to representatives of the media on Wednesday.
The governments of the two countries will work out and submit appropriate proposals for the qualitative improvement of economic ties, Emomali Rahmon added. He noted that during the negotiations, special attention was paid to industrial cooperation, and a roadmap was adopted to strengthen cooperation in the field of agriculture for the period up to 2025.
The President of Tajikistan highlighted among the priorities the active development of cooperation in the field of transport. "The volume of cargo transportation by road and rail will be increased on the territory of our countries. To this end, a joint action program (or "Roadmap") has been adopted today to further increase cargo traffic and activate multimodal transportation," the head of state said.
Rahmon also said about the start of construction of the Magtymguly secondary school in the Dusti district of the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. "This school will be built by the Turkmen side and will become a bright symbol of friendship of our fraternal peoples," the President stressed.
He said that issues of regional security, countering new challenges and threats were discussed, and in this aspect the parties agreed to intensify contacts through the special services.
The sides exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan. It was stressed that Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as close neighbors, are sincerely interested in establishing long-term peace and stability in this country.
They noted the readiness to hold two summits at a high substantive level in September this year in Dushanbe - the Consultative Meeting of the heads of Central Asian states and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
"We are waiting for dear Serdar Gurbangulyyevich in Tajikistan in the autumn to participate in these events," Emomali Rahmon said in conclusion.
