The European Cycling community will meet in Izmir

On October 11-13, the conference "EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism" will be held in the Turkish city of Izmir under the slogan "Cycling - New perspectives on heritage".
Focusing on the development of sustainable cycling, the conference will bring together cycling experts, representatives of international cycling associations, cycling operators and other stakeholders. It will provide a platform for discussing the future of cycling tourism, getting acquainted with the latest developments in the field of infrastructure in the cycling industry and establishing new connections through the exchange of ideas and experience. The event will also promote the heritage of tourism on two wheels.
During the technical visits, participants will get acquainted with some of the routes included in EuroVelo 8 — the Mediterranean route, and discover historical and gastronomic values while passing through Izmir and its attractions.
EuroVelo is an international cycling network connecting the European continent and uniting 17 cycling routes. It is managed by the European Cycling Federation and includes routes that support eco-friendly and sustainable living criteria.
Turkey participates in EuroVelo as part of the EuroVelo 8 route, a Mediterranean route with a 500-kilometer route in Izmir. EuroVelo 8 starts in Spain and continues through France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece, as well as Izmir and Southern Cyprus, passing through 11 countries.
