The Mediterranean coast of Turkey is expecting a large number of tourists this summer, despite the consequences of the devastating earthquake in February. This is reported by China Daily, referring to industry experts.

"Positive data on the visits of foreign tourists and income last year gave us hope at the beginning of this summer season," said Burhan Sili, chairman of the Association of Tourist Hoteliers of Alanya.

Earlier it was reported that the number of bookings after the February natural disasters decreased. But soon the situation improved.

Thus, according to data published by the local administration in early April, in Alanya, which is one of the main resorts in Turkey, in the first three months of this year the number of foreign tourists increased by 55% compared to the same period last year.

"In general, according to our estimates, we will finish the 2023 season with better indicators than in 2022," Seeley stressed.

The representative of a large German travel company TUI Kaan Sahinalp, was also optimistic about the prospects of the industry this year. According to him, Turkey will again become one of the main tourist destinations for many foreigners.

The tourism sector plays an important role in the Turkish economy. The country's income from this industry last year was the highest in its history. It showed an increase to $46.3 billion from 51 million foreigners.
