Additional sports classes will be introduced in French schools in preparation for the 2024 Olympics

French schools will introduce extra hours of sports in preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris next year. This was announced by Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera and French Minister of National Education and Youth Pape Ndiaye after the Olympic and Paralympic Week, which has been held every year since Paris received the right to host competitions in 2017.
Thus, 700 schools of the republic will receive two additional hours of sports per week.
"The development of physical activity and sports at school is a priority. This is where we will focus our efforts in the coming months, in particular on combating physical inactivity," Udea—Custer and Ndiaye said in a statement published in the French newspaper Le Monde. They stressed that schools will become the most solid foundation on which the sports legacy of the Games will be built.
The introduction of additional hours of physical education and sports in schools also meets the goal of turning France into a sporting nation.
On April 16, France will start the countdown 500 days before the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Recall that the French capital will host the Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11, 2024, and the Paralympic competitions — from August 28 to September 8.
