The President of Kazakhstan signed the law on the preservation of national dog breeds

We are talking about the Kazakh dog breeds tazy and Tobet. These greyhounds are called the treasure of Kazakhstan and now they are on the verge of extinction. To preserve and revive national dog breeds, the head of the republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law, the press service of the President of the country reported on Tuesday.
There are practically no purebred representatives of Taza and Tobet in the country. Although hundreds of breeders are engaged in breeding. A special National Center will maintain a single pedigree and be responsible for the standards of Kazakh breeds. It is also planned to train experts and breed purebred dogs, organize exhibitions and shows.

Tazy is an ancient aboriginal breed. It is almost 13 centuries old. These dogs were depicted on petroglyphs. One basin could cost a herd of horses and in Kazakhstan it represents one of the seven riches of a horseman.
Tobet was also an indispensable helper and breadwinner of a person. These dogs have been guarding nomads' cattle for centuries, hunted together with their owners and even used as a labor force.

The adopted law, according to experts, will help improve the gene pool of Kazakh dog breeds and is designed to save them from the threat of their complete disappearance. To solve these problems, the legal, organizational and economic foundations for the implementation of activities in the field of conservation and reproduction of national greyhounds will be established. The bill will also consolidate the competence of the authorized body," the press service said.
