Turkmenistan will join the Agreement on container trains in international traffic
Turkmenistan intends to join the Agreement on the carriage of containers as part of container trains in international traffic. This was announced by the Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakiev at a government video conference held on Friday.
According to him, the Turkmen Railways Agency has studied the possibility of joining its structural unit - the open joint-stock company "Railways" - to the mentioned agreement in order to develop international transport corridors running through Turkmenistan, increase the volume of container traffic through the country, as well as formation of an optimal price environment and logistics schemes.
The named agreement, adopted on the platform of the Organization for Cooperation between Railways, is valid from January 1, 2022, subject to changes and additions as of September 11, 2022.
