Ashgabat and Vienna reset the agenda of trade and industrial cooperation


The joint Turkmen-Austrian Commission on Trade, Economic and Industrial Cooperation held its 11th meeting on Wednesday in Ashgabat, where a solid business delegation from Vienna arrived.
The business meeting was chaired by the Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Dovletgeldi Rejepov and the Director General for Foreign Economic Cooperation of the Federal Ministry of Digitalization and Economy of Austria Franz Wessig.

In the first part of the meeting, the members of the commission assessed the current economic situation in both countries and analyzed the progress of bilateral trade and economic relations according to the calculations presented by the responsible persons of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan.
After a balanced analysis of the state of affairs in the Turkmen-Austrian economic partnership, the parties moved on to discussing tasks for the near future. Such areas as construction and infrastructure, energy, "green" technologies, healthcare and medical industry, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, agro-industrial complex and processing of agricultural products were highlighted in their extensive topics.

The leading specialists of the Turkmen departments on these profiles made detailed proposals and detailed reviews of the possibilities of cooperation, to which their Austrian colleagues responded with active attention and their own initiatives to develop a mutually beneficial dialogue.
The co-chairs of the joint commission from both sides summarized the voiced opinions, conclusions and conceptual ideas, summing up the meeting, which was recorded in the minutes of the meeting.

In addition to the two main events – the meeting of the joint commission and the business forum, which took place the day before, the program of the visit of the Austrian business mission also included numerous "spot" meetings and substantive negotiations on specific projects.
Thus, representatives of the Ashgabat City Hall and the chief architect of the Turkmen capital met with the management of companies of the same corporation - Waagner Biro steel and glass and Waagner Biro Austria Stage Systems, known for their participation in the implementation of major architectural and engineering-technological projects.
The Austrian delegation also included Richard Schens, Vice-President of the Federal Chamber of Economics of the Chamber, Michael Muller, Marketing Director of the Chamber's Foreign Economic Department, Mahal Clemens, Economic attache of the Austrian Embassy in Turkmenistan, and Neda Berger, Chairman of the Austrian-Turkmen Society.

The business community of the Austrian economic mission was represented by top managers of such reputable companies as AKRAS Flavours (food industry), AME International (digital technologies for healthcare), AMST-Systemtechnik (research center in the field of aviation medicine and flight crew training), Askin & Co (distributor of leading global and European manufacturers medical equipment and pharmaceutical products).
Engel Austria, one of the world leaders in the production of plastic processing machines, Eppendorf (laboratory equipment), Felder Group, a well–known engineering and technology company in the field of wood processing and composite materials, Gertnergroup, a supplier of multifunctional metalworking centers, and others also showed interest in establishing partnerships with Turkmenistan.

At the end of the meeting of the joint Turkmen-Austrian commission on trade, economic and industrial cooperation, a protocol was signed, which was signed by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Dovletgeldi Rejepov and the Director General for Foreign Economic Cooperation of the Federal Ministry of Digitalization and Economy of Austria Franz Wessig.
