The heads of Central Asian states and the President of the European Council confirmed their commitment to building mutually beneficial cooperation based on common interests and values, follows from the text of the Joint statement on the website of the press service of the Kazakh President following the results of the Central Asia-EU summit held in Astana.
Over the past 10 years, the EU has invested about $120 billion in Central Asian countries, which is about 40% of total foreign investment in the region's states.
The countries expressed their commitment to the observance of the UN Charter, respect for state borders and territorial integrity of countries in the name of peace and democracy. The parties stressed their interest in trade and economic cooperation and building a cross-border partnership.
The results of a pilot humanitarian and educational project for training Afghan girls in Central Asian countries within the framework of national educational programs were summed up, and prospects for cooperation in the fight against organized crime, human trafficking, drug trafficking and cyber threats were also considered.
The countries expressed their commitment to the development of a "green" economy and took into account the positive experience of the EU in this area.
Turkmenistan was represented at the Central Asia—EU summit in Astana by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Hojamyrat Geldimyradov.
