Turkmenistan is turning into the largest transit country in Asia

Turkmenistan is playing an increasingly important role in the Middle Corridor linking East Asia with Europe, China Briefing says, analyzing the statements of the newly elected chairman of the CPC Xi Jinping at the XX Party Congress.
The expansion of Azerbaijan's transit capabilities, taking into account the construction of new air harbors, as well as the presence of Turkmenistan's modern seaport in Turkmenbashi, which has a ring railway connection with all regions of the country and neighboring republics, in particular with Uzbekistan, will help the two countries connect the East and the West.
On average, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan increased by 620%, which indicates an increase in economic ties between Central Asia and China with the European part of the continent. In turn, Turkmenistan's accession to the INSTC corridor provides container transit from Russia and reflects its interest in the Southern Asian market, especially the Indian one.
The Russian side has repeatedly noted the need to join the "race" for the densely populated, rapidly developing Indian-Pakistani market. And Russia is successfully coping with this: Sberbank has received permission from the Reserve Bank of India to open accounts in rupees for Russian customers.
In this context, Turkmenistan is becoming one of the largest transit countries on the continent, meeting the transport needs of China's exports to Europe, as well as Russia's to India.
