Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan aim to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue


Chairman of the upper house of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev topical issues of strengthening strategic partnership between the countries, the press service of the Head of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
During the conversation, the sides paid special attention to the development of fruitful inter-parliamentary dialogue both in bilateral and regional formats.
Mirziyoyev congratulated Berdimuhamedov on the successful holding of important international events in Ashgabat – the first Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries and Russia, as well as the Dialogue of Women of Central Asian countries and the Russian Federation. The Head of the Republic of Uzbekistan supported the proposal of the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan to give the forum a regular character.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the international agenda, including the issue of promoting peace and security, as well as the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
