Ashgabat welcomes delegates of the 1st Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asia and Russia


Ashgabat is hosting the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian and Russian countries. On Wednesday to the Turkmen capital arrived foreign representative delegations, some of them have already held a number of bilateral meetings. And in the evening, members of the delegations were invited to the Main Drama Theater of Turkmenistan for the performance "Tree of Life".
On May 12, the heads and representatives of legislative and representative bodies of Central Asian and Russian countries will hold a large collegial meeting. The role of national parliaments in solving issues and problems of the changing world is on its agenda. It takes place a few days after the great holiday common to the participating States – Victory Day and on the eve of the national holiday of Turkmenistan – Constitution Day and the State Flag.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a welcoming address to the delegates of the Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian Countries and Russia. The message was published in the evening edition of the official news of the Turkmen State Television.
As the Head of state noted, Turkmenistan's parliamentary diplomacy is carried out in accordance with the status of neutrality and the country's foreign policy on a bilateral and multilateral basis. Turkmenistan participates in the activities of international parliamentary organizations and assemblies, inter–parliamentary friendship groups and the organization of joint events in this line, adhering to its philosophy in international relations, formulated as "Dialogue is a guarantee of peace."
The Turkmen leader expressed confidence that the Inter–Parliamentary Forum in the format "Central Asia - Russian Federation" will contribute to bringing the traditionally friendly relations of the participating countries to a new level.
"The Turkmen people highly honor friendship and brotherhood, peace and unity of peoples. Mutually beneficial cooperation, which originates from the commonality of spiritual and cultural values, is a solid foundation of relations between the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation. Our peoples are connected by historical roots that go back centuries, ties of primordial good-neighborliness, friendship and brotherhood," the President's address says.
Within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum, on May 13, a Dialogue of women "Central Asia-Russia" will be held, which is aimed at developing regional cooperation, strengthening trusting, friendly relations between peoples, supporting gender equality and women's rights. The participants plan to discuss the role of women in entrepreneurship, the development of information technology and digitalization.
