PETRONAS – Bronze Partner of OGT 2022 International Investment Forum


PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd (PC(T)SB), an Upstream unit of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) has been announced a Bronze Partner of International Forum for attracting foreign investments to the Oil and Gas sector of Turkmenistan, which will be held in Ashgabat in March.

PC(T)SB began its operations in the hydrocarbon sector more than two decades ago upon signing of the Production Sharing Contract for the Block 1 Contract Area. With the commence of commercial crude oil production in 2009 from Diyarbekir field and natural gas production in 2011 from Magtymguly field, PC(T)SB has established itself as one of the largest oil and gas producer and supplier of natural gas in Turkmenistan.
The Company places great importance on education, talent development and capacity building. Through the PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Programme, considerable number of students from Turkmenistan has been sponsored.
Local staff at PC(T)SB get an opportunity to visit Malaysia to upgrade their management and technical skills under a long-term manpower development plan to equip them as future leaders and technical professionals.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2013 between Turkmenistan’s International Oil and Gas University and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), a leading private university in Malaysia and wholly-owned by PETRONAS. The document is aimed to establish an exchange of experience in educational and research activities in the oil and gas sector.
In April, 2021 PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd launched the GDDP-A (Garagol Deniz Drilling Platform) oil drilling platform in the Caspian Sea – the fourth drilling platform fabricated at PETRONAS Fabrication Yard in Kiyanly on the Caspian coast north of Turkmenbashi. First oil from Garagol Deniz Field was achieved on 5th August 2021.
In November, 2021 PETRONAS Charigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd (PC(T)SB) established oil production at the Garagol-Deniz West (GDZ) field located in Block 1 of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. The oil produced in the amount of 6 thousand barrels per day from the Garagol-Deniz autonomous drilling platform was subsequently supplied to the Gas Treatment Plant and the Onshore Gas Terminal of the company.
In 2021 PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd celebrated its 25th Anniversary of successful partnership with Turkmenistan.
Recently, the company expressed its intention to dispose of hazardous waste at all its facilities, in connection with which announced a tender for all interested companies.
