USA suggested holding a meeting between the authorities of Afghanistan and the Taliban at high level
The United States offered to hold a meeting between representatives of the Afghani government and the Taliban movement at higher level than the level of the Inter-Afghani talks in Doha. US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad noted it in Kabul. Khalilzad, as was pointed out by a source, discussed with the Afghani authorities in Kabul “reconsideration of a number of provisions (reached in Doha) of the agreement made between Washington and the Taliban, including terms of withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan”. According to the special representative of the USA, Washington is not going to leave the agreement with the Taliban, but “intends to make amendments to it”. Meanwhile, official Kabul is not against participation of the Taliban in elections, it becomes a test for trust in them by people, as was stated by head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar.
