On the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, under the chairmanship of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia is being held.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and leader of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov previously arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the summit. The meeting is also attended by the representative of the UN Secretary General, the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia German.

The summit discusses key areas of interaction between the countries of Central Asia in the interests of the peoples of the region. Particular emphasis is placed on developing a partnership that meets the long-term interests of all Central Asian states.

  • Over the past time, we have found our worthy place in the world community. The time has come to unite efforts and strengthen regional cooperation, - said head of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov speaking at the summit. - The states of Central Asia have all the prerequisites for expanding and deepening trade, economic, transport, logistics, water and energy ties, as well as consolidating efforts to combat the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President of Kyrgyzstan paid great attention to transport and transit projects, which have prerequisites for turning Central Asia into one of the most important hubs of world trade. This is confirmed by the fact that significant transport corridors, such as TRACECA, CAREC, SCO, etc., pass through the region.

The head of the Kyrgyz Republic also spoke at the meeting with an initiative to hold a Central Asia-UN summit in 2022, which will be held under the sign of the 30th anniversary of the membership of the region's countries in the United Nations.
