About 200 domain names are currently registered in Turkmenistan, where online shops and sites providing paid services operate. Most of these virtual sites operate in the capital, but are gradually expanding their activities to the regions of the country.

The total number of domain names registered in Turkmenistan has reached 732 today, according to statistics of the Coordination Center for the National Domain of Turkmenistan.

Online shopping services in Turkmenistan have become especially popular after the introduction of restrictions related to the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases. During this period, dozens of new trading platforms began to operate in the country, most of which belong to private firms.

Electronic payment systems received an impetus for development. Now, with the help of the national payment system "Altyn Asyr", users can pay for purchases on the Internet right at the time of ordering through the website of the seller who has connected such a service.

As of July 1, 2021, there are more than 4 million 630 thousand bank cards in Turkmenistan, with which it is possible to pay for services and buy goods on the Internet.
