Saudi Arabia will build one hundred of schools in Afghanistan
Saudi Arabia pledges to finance 35 development projects in Afghanistan, including the construction of 100 schools. Work on these projects will begin in the near future. This was declared by the Saudi Ambassador to Kabul, Jassim Al-Khalidi at a meeting with Afghanistan Senate speaker, Fazl Hadi Muslimyar.
According to Mr. Al-Khalidi, the commitments include the construction of the International Islamic University in Nangarhar, investments of $30 million to build a hospital in Kabul, and $200 million to help the healthcare sector of Afghanistan.
Kabul welcomed the pledge of Saudi Arabia, calling the Kingdom one of the “beneficent partners of Afghanistan”. This aid package is the largest of similar financial commitments made by Saudi Arabia in recent years.
“Saudi Arabia is one of the allies of the people and government of Afghanistan, which has helped us to get hundreds of millions of dollars in recent years,” said Shamroz Khan Masjidi, a spokesman for the Afghan Finance Ministry.
