Discussion on transition to bicameral parliament continues in Turkmenistan


The meeting of the working group under the Constitutional Commission on the development and synthesis of proposals in connection with the introduction of amendments and additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan was held today in the national Parliament. The working group attached to the CC includes deputies of the Mejlis, representatives of parties and other public institutions, state institutions, and academic experts. Their tasks as members of the group include consideration of proposals from civil society and local authorities on constitutional reform, providing for the transition of the Turkmen parliament to a bicameral system. They also discussed what amendments would be made to the Constitutional Law on the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the law on the Mejlis, the Electoral Code, etc.
