On Sunday evening, February 9, the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater hosted a concert of incredible beauty. State Academic Mariinsky Theater Soloist Tsvetana Omelchuk starred on the stage. She was accompanied by the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, pianist Vladimir Mkrtumov. In the first part of the concert the Russian opera singer (mezzo-soprano) sang romances by famous Russian composers such as Alexander Dargomyzhsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Dmitry Shostakovich, Leonid Desyatnikov... and, of course, the pride and glory of Russia Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninov. - We are launching a series of cultural events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, which will last until May 9. Today, we recall the pages of our historic victory that we won in 1945. Many Turkmen citizens lost their lives on the battlefields of World War II, many worked in the rear. We will always remember the Turkmen women who donated their gold and silver jewelry so that factories could replenish tank columns and squadrons of combat aircrafts, Sergey Nasinovsky, ambassador- counselor of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan said in his opening speech. Tsvetana Omelchuk again won the Ashgabat audience, and the hall endowed the singer with a huge number of flowers. The second part of the concert was devoted to the works of European composers, including George Handel, Charles Gounod, Gioacchino Rossini, Antonio Vivaldi, Georges Bizet and other classics. The Russian opera singer’s repertoire gave the audience a lot of enthusiastic impressions. It was as if the spirit of the famous Imperial Mariinsky Theater of St. Petersburg swept through the audience. - This is not my first time in Ashgabat. I really like the Turkmen audience. It is sincere, warm, and I try to be obsessed with this positive energy coming from the hall, the singer shared. - After all, it is very important for artists to feel the atmosphere from the very first steps on the stage. And it was where I saw a passionate desire in the spectator to listen. The mesmerizing artistry of the opera diva, stressed by the virtuoso piano playing of Vladimir Mkrtumov, will be remembered by spectators for a long. The audience was especially pleased with the moment of performance impromptu when, singing an aria from the legendary opera Carmen, the singer unexpectedly went down the stage to the hall and presented several serious men, in addition to her beautiful voice, with a scarlet rose. Having bowed to everyone who came to the concert, Tsvetana Omelchuk promised to visit Turkmenistan more than once, and even share her professional skills with beginner colleagues.
