Pakistani Customs Officials Exchange Expertise with Turkmen Counterparts at the Port of Turkmenbashi

A specialized seminar on the exchange of practical experience was held at the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, bringing together representatives from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the customs authorities of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The meeting, hosted at a key logistics hub in the Caspian region, focused on enhancing the speed and security of transit cargo flows connecting Central Asia with southern maritime routes.
The Pakistani delegation examined the port’s infrastructure and the digital systems employed at the local customs post to monitor vehicles and cargo. Accelerating inspection procedures—without compromising the quality of oversight—is essential for increasing the appeal of multimodal routes that link the Caspian port network with Pakistan’s access points to the Indian Ocean.

The practical segment of the dialogue centered on implementing joint initiatives under the World Customs Organization’s cargo control programs and the Inter-Regional Network of Port Control Units (IREN). By sharing advanced inspection methodologies and synchronizing digital standards, the two nations aim to curb illicit trafficking, minimize vessel downtime, and establish a reliable transit corridor for international trade operators.
