Kazakhstan builds a wind park on the Caspian coast

In Atyrau province, the first wind power plant in the region with a designed capacity of 52 megawatts is being built on the coast of the Caspian sea in Manash village.
The new station of 36 windmills plans to provide up to 14% of electricity consumption in the region. Seven generators with a height of over 100 meters have been already installed.
The choice of facility’s location is primarily conditioned with climatic parameters. The intensive wind flows were recorded in the Manash with average speed of 10-12 meters per second, while the smooth operation of the station requires at least 4-4.5 m/s.
The project also plans to build two substations that will be connected to the transmission lines of the regional distribution company "Atyraujaryk".
The wind park will be commissioned in 2020.
Wind power is one of the most economically and environmentally profitable sectors of alternative energy. 1-MW wind turbine in two decades of operation can save about 13,000 tons of oil and cut annual emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by 1,800 tons.
