Perplexity Personal Computer AI Agent is Now Available on Windows
Perplexity has launched its local AI agent, Personal Computer, for Windows 10 and 11 users. Previously available only on macOS, the tool has now arrived on the world's most widely used desktop operating system. The rollout has already begun for subscribers to the company's paid plans.
Unlike conventional AI assistants, the agent runs directly on the user's device. This enables it to interact with local documents, spreadsheets, project folders, and installed applications that are typically inaccessible to cloud-based AI services. Acting as an autonomous digital assistant, it can locate files, update Excel spreadsheets, create presentations, gather information from the web, and compile a final report.
The main advantage of Personal Computer is its ability to integrate the local Windows workspace, Microsoft 365 cloud services, and web resources within a single conversation. The release marks another step in the development of the Perplexity ecosystem following its integration with Microsoft Teams in May.
The developers have placed a strong emphasis on security. Before performing sensitive actions—such as sending emails, modifying files, or deleting data—the agent always requests user confirmation. In addition, local data is not used to train AI models.
Initially, Perplexity Personal Computer is available to enterprise customers and subscribers to the Max and Enterprise Max plans.
