The company's American division is moving its headquarters to Texas.

Samsung Electronics America (SEA), the American division of the South Korean corporation Samsung Electronics, has cut 739 jobs in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

The layoffs are related to the relocation of SEA's headquarters to Texas. The company reported that most of the employees whose positions were cut have been offered the opportunity to transfer to new positions.

Changes to the Divisional Structure

In addition, approximately 100 employees were laid off at the company's office in Plano, Texas.

Samsung's Englewood Cliffs office opened last fall and was expected to employ approximately 1,200 people.

Samsung Is Restructuring.

It was previously reported that the company is considering a major restructuring of its operations in China, focusing on the most profitable and strategically important areas.

According to industry sources, Samsung plans to retain key businesses, including smartphone and semiconductor memory chip production, while certain divisions in home appliances, consumer electronics, and displays may be downsized or reorganized.
