Summer Camp Activities Help Children in Turkmenistan Learn More About Their Rights

More than 100 children from different regions of Turkmenistan participated in interactive sessions dedicated to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The activities were held from June 11 to July 9 in Turkmenabat, Tejen, and the "Yashlyk" Children's Recreation Center in Gokdere.
The initiative was jointly organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Innovation Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Office of the Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan, and UNICEF.

Through educational games and creative activities in a friendly environment, the children learned about their rights to education, comprehensive development, protection, and participation in public life. The organizers also encouraged participants to express their opinions freely, listen to their peers, and understand the principles of equality.

The greatest value of these sessions lies in the children's own feedback. Many participants said that the engaging and friendly format helped them not only learn about their rights but also recognize the importance of having their voices heard. The project helps children build self-confidence from an early age, teaches them to respect the rights and personal boundaries of others, and lays the foundation for raising socially active citizens capable of making positive contributions to their families, schools, and society.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), in partnership with the Government of Turkmenistan, continues to support the National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children's Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023–2028, helping to ensure a safe and supportive environment for the development of every child.
