On May 20–21, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in some districts of the Ahal, Mary, Lebap, and Balkan velayats of Turkmenistan, according to weather forecasters.

In the mountainous and foothill areas of the Kopetdag region, precipitation may reach 15–30 mm. Wind speeds are also expected to increase locally to 12–17 meters per second.

Meteorologists say the possibility of localized heavy rainfall is likely to continue on May 22–23 as well.
