Ashgabat will host a landmark event for anyone passionate about Eastern culture and linguistics. On Friday, May 22, at 3:00 PM, the finals of the 25th International Chinese Language Competition "Chinese Language Bridge" for university students in Turkmenistan will begin in the assembly hall of the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages (TNIWL).
This prestigious finals will be a debut for our country – the first time a competition of this level has been held in Turkmenistan. The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Turkmenistan, together with the leadership of TNIWL, organized this large-scale celebration of knowledge.
The Chinese language, which embodies centuries-old wisdom and civilization, today unites continents: it is spoken by a fifth of the world's population, and this year marks an important milestone: the 80th anniversary of Chinese becoming an official language of the UN. The "Chinese Language Bridge" competition itself is rightfully recognized as the international equivalent of the Olympic Games for students. Over the years, approximately 1.8 million young people from 160 countries have participated in the project, and hundreds of millions of viewers tune in to the intellectual competitions annually.
Five finalists—the best students from local universities—will compete for the right to represent Turkmenistan on the global stage. They will not only demonstrate impeccable language proficiency but also showcase their creative talents in the rich Chinese culture. A professional and impartial jury will evaluate the students' performances.
The stakes are high in the national finals:
• 1st place: The winner will receive a trip to China, where they will represent Turkmenistan in the global super final and compete against the world's top language experts.
• 2nd place: The silver medalist will also travel to China as an honorary observer for the main final competition.
• Prizes for all finalists: All winners of the Turkmenistan stage will be awarded diplomas and valuable prizes—modern, high-tech electronics from leading Chinese brands.
The organizers emphasize that the event's guests can expect more than just the official competition. The program, which lasts just over an hour, will be packed with activities: a vibrant exhibition of Chinese culture, performances of traditional songs and dances, and an interactive quiz for the audience. The meeting will conclude with a pleasant coffee break.
The Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan invites everyone, including journalists, students, and enthusiasts of Eastern culture, to join this event.
