China and France, as permanent members of the UN Security Council and major independent countries, bear important responsibility for maintaining international peace, stability and development, Chinese top diplomat Wang Yi said Friday. Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during talks with Emmanuel Bonne, diplomatic advisor to the President of France, in Beijing.
Noting the current instability in the world, Wang Yi said both countries should strengthen strategic interaction, carry out strategic coordination, jointly address global challenges and advance the comprehensive China-France strategic partnership for sustained and stable development free from various kinds of interference.
Bonne said France looks forward to working closely with China to jointly find constructive solutions to global crises. Maintaining dialogue and cooperation between Europe and China is of vital importance in the current international context, he added.
Noting that the European Union needs China, Bonne said France is ready to play an active role in promoting dialogue and cooperation between the EU and China.
