On March 24, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan hosted the opening ceremony of the 5th Open International Online Olympiad in the discipline “Theoretical Mechanics.” This large-scale event brought together hundreds of young scientists and served as a platform to showcase the country’s achievements in digital education.
The 2026 Olympiad has set participation records, confirming Turkmenistan’s status as an important scientific center in the region. A total of 766 students from 121 universities worldwide are taking part, representing 17 foreign countries and competing in an online format.
The national school of mechanics is represented by 195 students from 24 universities of Turkmenistan. The international segment includes 571 participants from 97 foreign universities. The competition format includes both individual rankings and team standings.
Holding the Olympiad online highlights Turkmenistan’s success in implementing innovative educational technologies. The main objectives of the competition are:
• Identifying and supporting talented youth in the exact sciences.
• Effective integration of digital tools into the educational process.
• Strengthening international academic cooperation and exchange of experience.
In the era of the Revival of a new epoch of a powerful state, broad opportunities are being created in the country for students’ professional growth and realization of their potential. Educational reforms aimed at improving the system enable young people to demonstrate their skills at national and global competitions.
