Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C), a major international partner of Turkmenistan, won the grand prize at the 1st Korea Artificial Intelligence Innovation Awards. This award confirms the company's status as a leader in digital transformation and the implementation of AI technologies in the construction industry.
At a ceremony held on November 10 at the National Assembly Museum in Seoul, the company was highly commended for the development and implementation of its proprietary intelligent collaboration system. Among the recognized proprietary technologies are "Baroletter AI," a global communications support tool, and "Barodap AI," an AI-powered contract documentation analysis solution, according to a DE&C press release.
Daewoo E&C is actively accelerating its digital transformation, which is particularly important given its participation in large-scale international projects. In March, the company launched the "Daewoo Intelligent Construction Alliance" to drive digitalization across all business sectors. The company also recently established a dedicated "AX (AI-Driven Transformation) Data Group" to develop corporate AI strategies and data platforms.
Company management stated that this award confirms Daewoo E&C's leading role in innovation and promised that the development of its AI platform and expanded collaboration with academia and government sectors will make Daewoo a leader in intelligent construction, improving construction quality and creating an automated process management system for future major projects.
Recently, on October 15, 2025, Daewoo E&C began construction of a large mineral fertilizer production complex at the Turkmenabat Chemical Plant in Lebap Province. The project is being implemented jointly with the Turkmenhimiya State Concern. The company has also expressed its willingness to participate in the second phase of the Arkadag new city project.
In October 2023, Daewoo E&C opened its branch in Ashgabat. Daewoo E&C Chairman Jeong Won Joo noted that the branch will serve as a forward base for the company's expansion into the Central Asian market.
