OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed the key capabilities of the upcoming GPT-6 model, scheduled for release in 2026. The model will represent a fundamental breakthrough, transforming AI from a simple assistant into a full-fledged collaborator in science and an autonomous manager in business, leading to unprecedented automation.
GPT-6 will differ from GPT-5 in two key features:
• Scientific collaborator:Instead of providing ad hoc assistance, the model will be able to regularly suggest hypotheses, ideas, and specific experiment plans, acting as a real research partner. Altman advises scientists: ask GPT-6 your current research questions.
• "AI CEO" in business: The model will automate 70-85% of routine and coordination work in corporate departments. Within a decade, AI will be able to perform planning and execution control, while the human role will be reduced to strategic management and failure monitoring.
Altman emphasized that, despite technological advances, the human factor (intuition, cultural context) will remain indispensable in creativity (for example, in poetry).
