Sora by OpenAI: A Revolutionary AI Video Generator Is Now Available on Android

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has released the mobile app of its widely discussed AI video generator Sora for Android. Its launch on Google Play expands access to one of the world’s most realistic video generation technologies, capable of “bringing photos to life” and creating complex videos from simple text prompts.
Sora competes in realism with Google’s Veo 3 and enables users to generate videos in a wide range of styles, from photorealistic to anime.
• Video creation: The generator creates videos based on text descriptions.
• Realistic sound: The AI generates not only visuals but also realistic audio, including speech and background music.
• Photo animation: Sora can “animate” stylistic photographs.
In late September 2025, a more advanced version, Sora 2, was released, introducing a major new feature called "Cameo", which allows users to insert themselves or celebrities into the videos they create.
Despite the global launch, the app is currently available only in a limited number of regions, including the United States. In Russia, as with other OpenAI services such as ChatGPT, Sora is not officially available and does not appear in the local Google Play store. However, users find workarounds to access the browser version and the app.
Previously, after the iOS version was released, the service gained massive popularity, surpassing 1 million downloads in just five days, demonstrating strong demand for AI-powered video creation tools.
