Arkadag, November 5 | ORIENT. The Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) addressed the Board of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care today. His brief but insightful speech outlined the Foundation's strategic priorities and emphasized the role of state initiatives and the Turkmen people's traditions in protecting children.
The meeting took place on the eve of a significant event – the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, celebrated during the International Year of Peace and Trust. This set the tone for the discussion, during which support for children was positioned as an important part of the national agenda.
The key points of the National Leader of the Turkmen people's speech included: State achievements and the role of the Foundation; Traditions of humanism as the basis of policy; and Specific support measures.
According to the first block – “State Achievements and the Role of the Charitable Foundation” – it was stated that Turkmenistan’s success in ensuring the well-being of its citizens is the result of systematic work carried out under the leadership of the country’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The Foundation's activities were described as exemplary and aimed at the "comprehensive and harmonious development of children and adolescents."
The speech noted the Charitable Foundation's growing international prestige. This year, for example, an international conference was held to mark the fourth anniversary of its founding, cooperation with foreign partners was expanded, and so on.
The second section, which we have provisionally designated "Traditions of Humanism as the Foundation of State Policy," defines assistance to those in need as "one of the distinctive qualities of Turkmens," inherited from our ancestors through centuries-old traditions.
Particular attention is paid to orphaned children—the state guarantees them care so that they grow up "devoted to their homeland and feel like full members of a strong family, that is, society."
The Charitable Foundation's humanitarian work is presented as a logical continuation of the nation's historical values.
The third section concerns specific support measures provided by the Charitable Foundation. These include social protection for children in need of care; assistance in restoring their health; creating favorable conditions for a happy life; and ensuring their full participation in society.
Among the key points of the speech, it is worth highlighting the one that states, "Not a single child in our country is left without care!"—essentially a declaration of the principle of comprehensive state protection.
The close connection between state childhood policy and the country's long-term development goals is stated in the thesis "Caring for the Younger Generation Means Caring for Our Great and Bright Future!"
In a synthesis of tradition and modernity, the people's humanistic customs are presented as the foundation of the state strategy.
...The speech concluded with a call to continue creating conditions for children's development and supporting the younger generation. Chairman of the People's Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, emphasized that this work "is of colossal importance" for the happiness of current and future generations of Turkmen citizens.
Thus, the meeting of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care served not only as a report on achievements but also as a policy statement on the priority of childhood protection in Turkmenistan's national agenda.
