Spotify has announced a partnership with OpenAI that allows users to connect their Spotify accounts to ChatGPT and receive personalized music and podcast recommendations. The feature is available to both free and Premium users, though Premium subscribers have access to additional capabilities.

To get started, users simply need to type “Spotify” in the ChatGPT chat and authorize their account during the initial setup. After that, they can request recommendations for artists, albums, playlists, or podcasts, and ChatGPT will display the results directly within the chat interface. Users can create collections based on mood, theme, or occasion, as well as generate weekend playlists. To play a song, they just need to click on its title, which will open it in Spotify.

Free users can search for tracks within existing Spotify playlists such as Discover Weekly and New Music Friday. Premium subscribers, meanwhile, can issue more specific commands and receive enhanced recommendations.

Spotify emphasized that no musical, audio podcast, or video content data is shared with OpenAI as part of this integration. The Spotify app within ChatGPT is available in English and works for users with Free, Plus, and Pro accounts.
