Turkmenistan Completes Document Submission, Begins University Admissions

Turkmenistan has completed the submission of documents from applicants seeking admission to higher education institutions. The admission campaign, officially closed Sunday, continues with exams and interviews at various universities.

Magtymguly Turkmen State University was the first to receive applicants from Ashgabat and the city of Arkadag between July 30 and Aug. 1. Exams will follow for applicants from Mary Province, then Balkan, Dashoguz, Ahal, and Lebap provinces. The admission campaign at the university is set to conclude August 20.

Similar procedures are in place across all higher education institutions, with variations in timelines for specialty, bachelor’s, and master’s programs. Creative institutions — including the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva, and the State Institute of Culture — will conduct entrance exams through mid-August. During this period, admissions will also close at the State Energy Institute and the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University.

Starting this academic year, the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs launched its admissions at the Oguz Han university. The new institution offers eight bachelor’s degree programs, including architecture, mechanical engineering, economics, and law.

The university is scheduled to open Sept. 1, coinciding with Knowledge and Student Youth Day. It aims to become an intellectual hub for training specialists focused on digitalization, industrial modernization, and sustainable economic growth under the "University 4.0" concept.

Additionally, 13 new programs will be introduced in several universities during the 2025–2026 academic year across specialties, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. These include artificial intelligence systems, railway transport automation, banking, tax management, and energy-saving technologies.

Earlier, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of improving the education system and raising teaching quality as a foundation for building the nation’s intellectual capital and furthering Turkmenistan’s development.
