Weekly weather: heat persists in Turkmenistan

This week, weather conditions in Turkmenistan are expected to remain largely consistent. Temperatures will continue to be 2–4 degrees above the climatic norm, with a potential increase in heat towards the weekend in the southern regions and Balkan Province.

On Monday, the country will be under the influence of an anticyclone ridge extending from the European part of Russia. Consequently, temperatures in most regions will not exceed +40°C. Dashoguz Province is forecast to experience +31…+36°C, while other regions will see +35…+40°C.

By Tuesday, the anticyclone will begin to wane, leading to an increase in temperatures: up to +37…+42°C in the south, and +33…+38°C in the north.

Mid-week, on Wednesday and Thursday, Dashoguz Province is predicted to have temperatures of +33…+38°C. Other regions will predominantly experience +36…+42°C, with some areas reaching up to +43°C. Along the Caspian Sea coast, temperatures will be +31…+36°C.

Towards the end of the week, meteorologists anticipate an intensification of heat in the southwest and south of the country. In isolated areas of Balkan Province, temperatures could reach +44°C, while other regions may see up to +42°C.

In Ashgabat, daytime temperatures are forecast as follows:

– Monday: +37…+39°C

– Tuesday: +39…+41°C

– Wednesday–Thursday: +38…+41°C

– Friday–Sunday: +37…+41°C

Forecasters note that such temperature peaks are becoming increasingly pronounced and frequent amid global climate change.
