President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir visited Turkmenistan with a working visit, and on Monday was received by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Then, a meeting took place in the premises of the MFA of Turkmenistan between the UN delegation headed by Volkan Bozkir and the Turkmen delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, as informed by the website of the foreign policy department of the country.
Negotiations were devoted to interaction on an actual problematics of regional and world value.
Volkan Bozkir highly appreciated the role of neutral Turkmenistan in development of the region and strengthening of global stability, embodied in concrete initiatives of the social and economic plan.
Participants discussed cooperation prospects in counteraction to modern threats and challenges, including the pandemic, climate change and others.
The constructive position of Turkmenistan in the regional dialogue and its intermediary mission in settlement of conflicts was noted. In this aspect the importance of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia which headquarters is located in Ashkhabad, was underlined.
The delegations also discussed the preparations to the events planned for the current year, including the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) - COP-26to be held in Glasgow in November, 2021, in which the Turkmen side intends to take active part.
Volkan Bozkir also met Chairwoman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova.
