Oriented on making people closer

At the One Planet Global Biodiversity Summit hosted by the United Nations and the World Bank, UN Secretary-General António Guterres declared 2021 “the year of humankind joining nature”.

He stressed the need to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050 and provide countries with financial resources to adapt to the aftereffects of climate change.

“Based on smart policies and the right investments, we can chart a path that will revitalize the economy, increase sustainability and preserve biodiversity”, the Secretary-General said, stressing the need for an urgent transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

Any public and private funding must support the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

A new “Coalition of High Ambitions for the Protection of Nature and People” was established at the summit. Its 50 member states have undertaken to protect 30% of the world’s land and seas by 2030.

The main goal of the UN in 2021 is to create a global coalition for carbon neutrality. Every country, city and business must adopt an ambitious roadmap to achieve this goal. Previously, developed countries have undertaken to provide 100 billion US dollars annually to support the climate change aftereffects mitigation.

It should be noted that according to a global survey conducted by the United Nations last year, respondents in all regions identified climate change as a long-term global problem that has to be addressed.
