The Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan will conclude an agreement with the International Institute of Central Asian Studies (Uzbekistan) at the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum". A tripartite agreement will also be signed between the Academy of Sciences, Kazan University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Astrakhan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. This was reported to journalists by the participants of the session "Muslim historical and archaeological Heritage: preservation, study, management and tourism" of the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia - the Islamic World: KazanForum": Director of the International Institute of Central Asian Studies (Uzbekistan) Evren Rutbil, Acting Rector of Astrakhan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering Sergey Strelkov and Director of the Khalikov Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Airat Sitdikov.

According to Airat Sitdikov, the agreements are aimed at the implementation of specific projects related to the study and preservation of architectural and historical heritage sites, monuments of Muslim culture both in Tatarstan and in the Astrakhan region, the Volga region and in the Central Asian region.

In addition, the Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan said that the archaeological school project, which has been implemented for several years, will continue with the International Institute of Central Asian Studies. This year the school will be held in Tatarstan.

According to Airat Sitdikov, the triple agreement with architectural universities is aimed at implementing projects for the study and restoration of historical and architectural heritage sites. "The specific object that we will focus on and work on is the mausoleum complex near the village of Lapas in the Astrakhan region. I hope that students of these universities will be involved in the work on our monuments in Bolgar, Belyar and Kazan, where there are also evidence of historical monuments related to the culture and history of our country and Muslim culture" said the director of the Institute of Archaeology.

Evren Rutbil noted that the institute he heads unites 12 states, including the Russian Federation. He expressed hope that the KazanForum platform would contribute to the creation of new partnerships and joint study of the Muslim heritage by Russia and the Islamic world. During his visit to the republic to participate in the forum, he said that representatives of the International Institute of Central Asian Studies met with employees of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan.

According to him, scientists are not limited to architectural monuments only: intangible heritage, documentary monuments and other forms of cultural heritage are also subjects to study.

Sergey Strelkov noted that issues of exceptional importance would be discussed during the session. According to him, he visited the capital of Tatarstan for the first time. Work on heritage sites in the Astrakhan region has already begun with representatives of the scientific community of the republic engaged in archeology. In addition, cooperation will develop at the level of students and student groups.
