 President of Turkmenistan to make working visit to Japan

Ashgabat, April 12. ORIENT. At a government meeting on Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported on the preparations for the upcoming working visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan.

As was emphasized in the report, one of the key areas of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is the consistent development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, among which Japan occupies a special place. Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Japan were established on April 22, 1992, and over the past period, a solid legal framework for bilateral cooperation has been formed. In addition, regular contacts have been established at the level of parliaments and governments of the two countries.

As part of the upcoming visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan, participation in events dedicated to the National Day of Turkmenistan, which will be held on April 14 as part of the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, is planned. This event will become an important platform for demonstrating the country's achievements and strengthening its international image.

The productive nature of the Turkmen-Japanese economic partnership is confirmed by a number of major joint projects successfully implemented over the past 15 years. The strategic partnership covers such important sectors as gas chemistry, electric power, transport and water management. The dynamic development of interaction between Turkmenistan and leading Japanese companies, which facilitates the exchange of advanced technologies and attracting investment, is noted.

The Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation are actively functioning for the systematic coordination of interstate relations. These structures play an important role in identifying promising areas of interaction and implementing joint projects.

Great importance is also attached to cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere. The key partner of Turkmenistan in this area is the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Currently, in general education schools and higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, attention is paid to the study of the Japanese language, which indicates a growing interest in the culture and economy of Japan among the younger generation of Turkmen citizens.

As part of active preparations for the upcoming working visit of the President to Japan, all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a high organizational level of the event. In conclusion of the report, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov presented the Program of the visit for consideration by the head of state.

The upcoming working visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan is intended to become an important step in further strengthening the multifaceted strategic partnership between the two friendly countries and will give new impetus to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
