A concert dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Medeniyet Shahberdyeva was held in Moscow
07.04.2025 | 23:45 |In Moscow, the IX Moscow International Art Festival "Sounds of Dutar" named after Nury Khalmamedov started. The festival was opened by the concert "Turkmen Nightingale", which was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the People's Artist of the USSR, Medeniyet Shahberdyeva. This talented performer and experienced teacher made a huge contribution to the development of opera art. Many artists began their career precisely thanks to her support.
The concert has traditionally been held at the art gallery of the People's Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation Zurab Tsereteli. Despite the abnormally cold weather for April - snow and snowstorm, the hall was full. Representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, headed by Ambassador Esen Aidogdyev, creative and scientific intelligentsia, Turkmen diaspora in Moscow, were present. Many of the audience were personally acquainted with Medeniyet Shahberdyeva and gladly shared their memories after the concert.
“For the artist, the highest happiness is to sing the premiere, to bring life to a new production,” Medeniyet Shahberdyeva said. This creative attitude allowed her to perform not dozens, but hundreds of premieres. Perhaps there is not a single Turkmen composer of the older generation who would not devote the work to her. Medeniyet Shahberdyeva did not seek to encourage composers to write for her, however, communicating with them, she often reflected on the ways of development and the state of vocal art, and this inspired the composers.
The Turkmen Nightingale Medeniyet Shahberdyeva was a muse for the whole generation of composers. Her vocal talent and the charm of an extraordinary personality had a deep impact on the composer Mamed Guseynov, the founder of the Dutar Sounds festival.
A particularly significant milestone was her cooperation with Nury Khalmamedov, who wrote more than twenty romances for her. The highest point of their joint creativity was the vocal and symphonic cycle “The Interrupted Songs of Children of Hiroshima and Nagasaki”, comparable in complexity with the mono -opera due to the complexity of acting tasks.
At the concert, this cycle performed by Darya Guseynova again caused strong emotions in the public, and smiles and tears.
Mamed Guseynov shares: “My personal admiration for the talent of Medeniyet Shahberdyeva is endlessly, and this is expressed in deep respect for her skill. The result of our creative cooperation was the diptych of the verses of Kurbannazar Ezizov - two related romances “My Love” and “My Earth”.
Behind numerous awards, titles and titles of Medeniyet, a rare modesty, shining with purity was hidden. And at the same time, she was distinguished by a surprisingly subtle sense of humor, like a sunny ray, warming others and giving them inspiration. Communication with her left a bright sense of happiness and spiritual enrichment in her soul, Mamed Guseynov admits.
“The best halls applauded the talent. Her incredible coloring soprano with a unique brilliance, honed to perfection, remains a guide for many artists even today. Her performance is the highest academicism and internal height, and in this she has no equal,” Darya Guseynova, artist of the Moscow Musical Theater “Helicon-Opera” said.
The concert program sounded chosen works from an extensive opera diva: arias from European opera classics and romances of Turkmen composers, demonstrating the synthesis of the musical traditions of the East and West. The concert was attended by ascending stars from leading creative universities, recognized soloists of Moscow theaters, members of the jury and close friends of the Moscow International Art Festival “Sounds of the Dutar” named after Nury Khalmamedov.
Among the participants of the concert shone: the mixed choir of the studio at the academic ensemble of the song and dance of the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation under the direction of conductor Valeria Goryunova, pianist-virtuosa Elysey Babanov, artist of the Helikon-Opera Theater Darya Guseynova (Soprano), winner of the Grand Prix of the children's age category of the VIII festival “Sounds of Dutar” Ksenia Cherkasova (violin), winner of the Grand Prix of the adult age category of the VIII festival Maria Buyanova (piano), talented students of the A.V. Sveshnikov Choral School Dariy Guseynov and Saveliy Rodin, who performed under the sensitive accompaniment of Irina Filippova (piano), as well as laureates of the festival of past years: Yana Kolomets (Soprano), Margarita Gavrilina (Soprano), Elena Druzhinkina (Soprano) and Polina Veres (Soprano). The concert was led by Evgeny Volkov, a famous conductor and theater teacher, who has truly encyclopedic knowledge.
The competitive part of the festival will be held in the fall. Solo performers, ensembles and choirs will take part.
