Working visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan to the Balkan velayat
01.04.2025 | 04:00 |The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, commenced a working visit to the Balkan velayat on March 31st, where he got acquinted with the construction projects of new facilities on the Caspian Sea coast. Issues concerning the development of the country's western region and preparations for upcoming international events were also discussed, as reported by TDH.
In the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received reports from the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and heads of military and law enforcement agencies regarding the work in their respective supervised structures.
Subsequently, the National Leader of the Turkmen people was presented with projects for the further development of the seaside and the construction of various facilities. Particular attention was given to the design of a complex of buildings for hosting international events, which will be located in a picturesque area of "Avaza".
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reviewed the specifications of the buildings, as well as options for interior and exterior decoration. He made a number of comments and introduced adjustments, emphasizing that all elements of the complex must meet modern standards.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty focused on the necessity of conducting preparations for significant international events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust at the highest level. He noted that the upcoming international conference in Avaza will be a continuation of the Forum of Ministers of Transport of Landlocked Developing Countries, which was previously held at the initiative of Turkmenistan under the auspices of the UN. It was emphasized that the preparations should take into account Turkmenistan's neutral status, which has been affirmed three times by resolutions of the UN General Assembly, and he instructed to ensure the coordinated work of all involved agencies.
Following this, a working meeting was held where issues related to the preparation for the international forum were considered, including the reception of guests and the creation of necessary conditions for their effective work. It was noted that meetings and negotiations with delegations from participating countries are planned. A report was also heard on the program of cultural events that will take place within the framework of the UN conference on landlocked developing countries. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of a high organizational level for all planned events, considering Turkmenistan's status as a center for hosting international forums.
Further, the National Leader of the Turkmen people proceeded to the Garabogazgol Bay, where he inspected the progress of the construction of a two-lane highway bridge on the Turkmenbashi–Garabogaz–Kazakhstan border route. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Baymyrat Annamammedov reported on the progress of work and noted that the bridge will significantly increase the volume of trade and passenger traffic between the western and northern regions of Turkmenistan, as well as with neighboring countries.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the international significance of this facility. He noted that the bridge will contribute to the integration of Turkmenistan into the global economy and the strengthening of international cooperation.
The development of the country's road infrastructure opens up new opportunities for intercontinental transportation and the efficient use of the potential of the Turkmenbashy International Seaport. The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty also noted the importance of the bridge for the development of the natural resources of Garabogazgol.
