Latvia has notified Turkmenistan of new fuel import regulations for freight carriers

Latvia is introducing new entry regulations for freight transport. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus has received official notification of the upcoming changes in regulations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.

According to the submitted document, the following changes will come into force on January 1, 2025:

A strict fuel limit of no more than 200 liters is established for standard fuel tanks of commercial vehicles.

A ban is introduced on the entry into Latvia of vehicles from non-EU countries (including Turkmenistan) if the fuel volume in their tanks exceeds the established limit.

Transport companies and drivers from Turkmenistan are advised to take into account the new requirements when planning international transportation through the territory of Latvia.
