The III Open International Internet Olympiad on Ecology was held in Turkmenistan
06.12.2024 | 14:59 |On December 5, 2024, the III Open International Internet Olympiad on Ecology among students of universities of the country and abroad was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University.
The participants of the opening ceremony of the Olympiad first got acquainted with the research and design works prepared by young scientists and students.
The III Open International Internet Olympiad on Ecology was attended by 500 students from 25 universities of Turkmenistan and 70 universities from 30 foreign countries, in particular Azerbaijan, Australia, the USA, the Republic of Belarus, Great Britain, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Iran, France, Kazakhstan, Germany, South Africa, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, India, Croatia, China, Indonesia, Spain, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Egypt, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Japan, etc.
The participants were offered assignments on topics such as ecology of populations and the biosphere, human ecology and modern environmental problems, industrial ecology, environmental monitoring, environmental legislation and international organizations. The students were given 90 minutes to complete the tasks.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent his address to the participants of the International Olympiad. He stressed that the harmonious development of each state and society is inextricably linked with science.
Therefore, Turkmenistan pays great attention to the improvement of science, including natural and exact directions, as well as the development of environmental education.
The international prestige of our country's "green" educational institutions, which pay special attention to environmental policy and sustainable development objectives, continues to grow. In 2024, S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University entered the Times Higher Education's "World University Rankings 2025" rating and was marked in the list of "UI GreenMetric World University Rankings" as a sustainable, "green" university.
