The economic council of the CIS approved the concept of forming a common labor market
01.12.2024 | 23:55 |On November 29, the 104th meeting of the CIS Economic Council was held in Moscow, in which a wide range of issues related to economic cooperation among the CIS member states was discussed.
The meeting was chaired by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the CIS Economic Council. Members of the CIS Economic Council participated in the meeting, including the Authorized Representative of Turkmenistan to the Commission on Economic Issues under the Council and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Russia, Esen Aydogdyyev.
The members of the Economic Council approved the Concept for the gradual formation of a common labor market and regulation of labor migration of CIS member states. This concept will contribute to the further development of cooperation in the field of social and labor relations.
Additionally, the List of Priority Industries and Areas of Cooperation for Industrial Cooperation based on national industrial development strategies has been approved. This document is aimed at uniting the efforts of states to stimulate the formation of innovative industrial clusters; scientific research and development aimed at creating new technologies and materials, developing new competencies and skills; and cooperation in the field of professional training, retraining, and upskilling personnel in the field of advanced industrial technologies and innovative product production.
Sergey Shogurov, General Director of EANE, presented a report on the activities of the Interstate Council for Exhibition, Fair, and Congress Activities of the CIS in 2018-2023. It was noted that in accordance with the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, work is underway to create permanent exhibition pavilions of the Commonwealth states at EANE.
The members of the Economic Council approved a Comprehensive Set of Measures to Improve Safety Culture in the Use of Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes. This will contribute to improving the institutional framework for the development of the nuclear industry, including providing scientific and technical support to organizations involved in the development of peaceful uses of nuclear technologies, taking into account the recommendations of the IAEA.
The informational, analytical, and reference materials presented data on the implementation of the decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS on the Concept of Establishing a Coordinated Tariff Policy for Rail Transport in the CIS member states and on the Tariff Policy of the CIS Railways for the 2023-2024 freight years, on the implementation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Prevention and Elimination of Outbreaks of Forest Diseases and Pests in the Border Regions of the CIS member states, and information on the use of the national currencies of the Commonwealth countries as a factor in strengthening the economic interaction of national economies, among others.
The next meeting of the Economic Council is scheduled to be held on April 28, 2025, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee reported.
