International chemistry Olympiad kicks off in Ashgabat
25.11.2024 | 10:00 |On November 25, 2024, the grand opening ceremony of the 3rd International Chemistry Olympiad took place at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University in Ashgabat. This significant event brought together representatives from 13 countries, including over 200 students and educators from leading universities worldwide.
Opening Ceremony Highlights
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Education, university leadership, jury members, and representatives of foreign educational institutions. The rector of Magtymguly Turkmen State University addressed the participants with a welcome speech, emphasizing the importance of international scientific collaboration in advancing chemistry as a field of study.
Participants of the Olympiad
This year, the Olympiad includes 214 students, divided as follows:
• 81 students from 23 universities across 12 foreign countries, including Russia, China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and others.
• 133 students from 21 universities in Turkmenistan, including Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the State Medical University, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev Oil and Gas Institute, among others.
Objectives and Format
The International Chemistry Olympiad aims to:
• Inspire interest in science,
• Foster creative thinking, and
• Promote the exchange of knowledge and experience among students and educators.
Participants will compete by solving challenging theoretical and practical problems, and the winners will receive diplomas and commemorative gifts.
Cultural Program
The Olympiad also features a rich cultural program. The opening ceremony included musical and dance performances by university creative groups, showcasing the culture of Turkmenistan and the participating countries.
